Who is Devin? Devin is Frank’s eldest son who came to work with Marina Divers Sharm a few years ago. For the first half of his life he moved around the USA and lived in various states before moving to New York. As a young teenager he visited Sharm el Sheikh a couple of times and took his PADI Open Water certificate at the age of 13.
Devin loves all sports so it was no surprise that he took to the warm waters of Sharm with no hesitation and was a natural underwater. After graduating, he has had various different careers but in April 2010 he decided to move to Sharm and follow in his Dad’s footsteps and start learning the ropes of how Marina Divers Sharm (one of the longest standing dive centers in Sharm) is run.
In less than eight months he successfully completed his Advanced Open Water up to the professional level of Dive Master, he then went on to sit his Instructor Development Course and pass his PADI Instructor Exam with flying colors in November 2010.
Over the last few years Devin has become an expert Dive Guide and has been given the nickname of ‘Shark Man’ due to his frequent sightings of Red Sea sharks. In one day his lucky divers got to see a Grey Reef Shark, a rare sighting of a Tiger Shark and on the third dive a Scalloped Hammerhead. As Devin tells his divers – never miss the third dive as you never know what you will see.
Apart from his guiding pursuits, he is a keen teacher and loves his role as an Instructor. Devin is almost every day on the Concorde el Salam beach or on the diving boat guiding divers at the Straits of Tiran or teaching PADI courses.
